Project Summary:

Eight mangroves were to be impacted during construction of a 0.5 acre berth within a channel contiguous with Tampa Bay.  Mitigation for the loss of these mangroves was required.  The original designs of the berth and the mitigation plan were created by others.
Delta Seven Inc. was contracted to complete the construction, monitoring, and reporting of the approved mitigation plan.

Project Description:

Delta Seven was hired to execute an approved and previously permitted mitigation plan.  The original plan called for the removal of approximately 1.5 acres of Brazilian Peppers.  There was also to be the creation of 0.25 acres of wetland through grading and planting, and revegetation of the remaining cleared area.  After completing the Brazilian Pepper removal, it was apparent that the original wetland creation plan was inappropriate for the site and would most likely fail.  Delta Seven Inc. redesigned the grading and planting regime and amended the permit.  All elements of the mitigation plan including tree removal, herbicide application, surveying, grading, planting, and monitoring of the site were coordinated by Delta Seven Inc.  Regular monitoring events and reports will be submitted to the Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection until 2012.
