Project

Delta Seven, in cooperation with the site engineer and the marine contractor, obtained state and federal permits for this project, the first of its size in the Clearwater area in many years. |

Project Description: The project consisted of the redevelopment of an existing 15 slip docking facility to meet the requirements of a proposed 200 unit upland residential development, Belle Harbor Condominiums. The work included the permitting and design of 50 new wet slips, reconstruction of 15 wet slips, the placement of 102 cubic yards of rip rap along the existing seawall, and dredging 1,100 cubic yards of material. |

| Before
construction there were 7.88 acres of seagrass and unconsolidated
bottom tidal wetlands within the project area. The dock construction
and dredging temporarily impacted 0.54 acres of unconsolidated bottom
wetlands. The dock construction permanently impacted 0.0016 acre of
seagrass wetland. The seagrass wetland impacts were offset by the
removal of an existing dock structure, to allow for the restoration of
0.01 acre of seagrass wetland. |

| The
SWFWMD
permit for the Belle Harbor- Docks project required the ecological
monitoring of seagrass recovery on a programmed schedule. The permit
required that there would be 6 month, 12 month, 18 month, and 24 month
monitoring reports. Monitoring indicates that natural recovery of the seagrass is occurring in the area previously shaded by the old dock structure. |
